Abstract

In the case of an electron in a high-frequency field of small amplitude it is found that the scattering cross section for radiation depends only on the mechanical mass m, instead of the total mass, as in the point electron theory. For the scattering of fast electrons by "protons" the differential cross section for scattering depends on the mass in a more complicated way. Finite values are obtained for the deflection for all values of the impact parameter and for the total energy radiated in the collision.
