Abstract

In a search for a relationship between the exposure recorded by a film badge at a single point of the body and the mean whole-body exposure to X-rays, measurements were made on radiologists at various parts of the body. The ionization chambers used were fixed to eleven points on the radiologist's body surface during fluoroscopy, and a series of between 10 and 30 chest examinations and 3 to 8 abdominal examinations were carried out. In all, 106 measurements were made on 38 radiologists who had examined a total of 1112 patients. The X-ray emission time per patient, X-ray tube voltage (65-75 kV), tube current and other relevant parameters were recorded.
