Abstract

The hyperfine structure in the S122 electronic ground state of K42 (12.4-h) has been studied using a high-precision atomic-beam apparatus. The hyperfine separation is shown to be Δν=1 258 876 947 (15) Hz. The nuclear magnetic dipole moment, measured independently of Δν, is μI=1.142 4(2) μN. The hyperfine magnetic anomaly is evaluated as Δ4239=+0.000 3+0.003 36(38).
