Abstract

We report a study of upshifted and downshifted Raman backscattered light obtained from two different plasma configurations using a 0.53-μm laser pump. The results provide strong evidence of coupling between plasma waves generated by stimulated Raman scattering and ion waves caused by, or facilitating, stimulated Brillouin scattering.
