Incomplete momentum transfer in the Ar40+58Ni reaction

Abstract

We have observed incomplete momentum transfer in binary reactions of the 40Ar+58Ni system at 15 MeV/nucleon with a relative intensity of 0.11±0.05. The projectile spectator has a mass close to A=8, and the inelasticity of reactions with incomplete momentum transfer is halfway between that of normal elastic and deep-inelastic reactions.
