EGU’s Education Committee invites applications for the new Distinguished Lectures for Universities series with financial support of up to €1400 to support a special lecture to be hosted at higher education institutions. Applications are due by 30 June 2024.
Following a resolution that was made by EGU’s Council, the current EGU President has been dismissed.
Thanks to the enthusiastic efforts of our members and volunteers, EGU24 broke all our previous record with an astounding 20,931 people participating in the General Assembly, both in Vienna and online!
This Earth Day EGU joins with geoscience organisations around the world to share our commitment to promoting the conscientious applications of science to help us find solutions to create a just and sustainable future for humanity and the planet.

Last month, on 19 April 2024, Subimal Ghosh from IIT Bombay brought immense pride to India by receiving the Alexander von Humboldt Medal 2024 at the EGU 2024 General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. This prestigious award in Geoscience recognizes Ghosh’s exceptional work in hydrometeorology, climate services, climate education, and the societal impacts of the South Asian Summer Monsoon System.
