Possibility of fast deep cooling of atomic or molecular gases by laser radiation

Abstract

A technique of fast deep cooling of atomic or molecular buffer gases by laser radiation is proposed. With Na vapor as a cooling agent interacting with a laser field a cooling time of about 10−3s and minimum temperature of about 25K can be attained.
