Abstract

Torsion crack problems of a bar with ring segment sections are discussed (see Figs. 1–2). The procedure utilized consists of the following three steps: (1) using the conformal mapping technique, (2) using the harmonic function continuation technique, (3) using the compliance method. The procedure used belongs to an indirect one with respect to calculation ofK 3 values. All the numerical results concerning the torsional rigidity andK 3 are shown in Tables 1–4.
