Abstract
A new way to promote antihydrogen formation via the recently discovered long-lived metastable states of antiprotonic helium atoms is discussed. Recombination processes such ase − ¯pHe++ +e + e − →e + ¯p + He0 are possible in this respect.

Dedicated to Prof. Dr. P. Kienle on the occasion of his 60th birthday
This paper is dedicated to Professor Paul Kienle on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The author would like to thank Professor Kienle for stimulating and illuminating discussions for many years concerning a wide range of physical phenomena. He is also indebted to the members of the experimental group, in particular, Professor R.S. Hayano for the daily collaborative work on the exotic trapping phenomena, as well as to Professor Y. Ito and Dr. K. Ohtsuki for their helpful discussions.
