Abstract
We have measured the time required for the destruction of type I superconductivity in high purity indium wires by a current greater than the critical current. Our results are not in agreement with theoretical treatments presented by Pippard and by Rothen and Bestgen and we suggest possible inadequacies in the theoretical models.
