Fertigation is one of the smart practices that help attains sustainable food production and minimize environmental pollution. Fertigation is the application of dissolved mineral fertilizers, soil amendments, and other water-soluble products to the roots of crops through irrigation water. This book provides understanding of the basic issues regarding the appropriate selection of injectors and fertilizer compounds used in fertigation for growing various field and horticultural crops which are essential to attain higher productivity, increasing food security and reducing food contaminations. It also clarifies the advantages of fertigation and set solutions to overcome its disadvantages.

About the author
Ahmed Mohamed Taha is a Senior Researcher (Assistant Professor) at Water Requirements and Field Irrigation Research Department; Soils, Water, and Environment Research Institute; Agricultural Research Center; Egypt. Dr. Taha’s experience is concentrated on design, implementation and evaluation of pressurized irrigation systems, i.e. sprinkler and drip systems, at local (government and private sectors) and international organizations. Since 2001 Dr. Taha has designed modern irrigation systems for 200 different farms covering an area of about 2000 hectares. He also acted as a technical advisor for 7 industrial companies from 2003 to 2009, and worked as a consultant in Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, Khartoum, Sudan in 2017. Dr. Taha was involved in evaluating the water distribution uniformity under pivot systems in West-West El-Minia project in 2018. In addition, he evaluated the performance of drip irrigation systems in theresearch farm of Soils, Water and Environment Research Institute in West-West El-Minia project in 2019.
