    Keywords: nanotechnology ; nanomaterials
Notes: Nanoplasmonics is a young topic of research, which is part of nanophotonics and nano-optics. Nanoplasmonics concerns to the investigation of electron oscillations in metallic nanostructures and nanoparticles. Surface plasmons have optical properties, which are very interesting. For instance, surface plasmons have the unique capacity to confine light at the nanoscale. Moreover, surface plasmons are very sensitive to the surrounding medium and the properties of the materials on which they propagate. In addition to the above, the surface plasmon resonances can be controlled by adjusting the size, shape, periodicity, and materials' nature. All these optical properties can enable a great number of applications, such as biosensors, optical modulators, photodetectors, and photovoltaic devices. This book is intended for a broad audience and provides an overview of some of the fundamental knowledges and applications of nanoplasmonics. | Contents: Chapter 1: Graphene and Active Metamaterials: Theoretical Methods and Physical Properties by Marios Mattheakis, Giorgos P. Keywords: ion implantation ; microelectronics
Notes: Ion implantation is one of the promising areas of sciences and technologies. It has been observed as a continuously evolving technology. In this book, there is a detailed overview of the recent ion implantation research and innovation along with the existing ion implantation technological issues especially in microelectronics. The book also reviews the basic knowledge of the radiation-induced defects production during the ion implantation in case of a semiconductor structure for fabrication and development of the required perfect microelectronic devices. The improvement of the biocompatibility of biomaterials by ion implantation, which is a hot research topic, has been summarized in the book as well. Moreover, advanced materials characterization techniques are also covered in this book to evaluate the ion implantation impact on the materials. | Contents: Chapter 1: Introductory Chapter: Introduction to Ion Implantation by Ishaq Ahmad and Waheed Akram --- Chapter 2: Metal Ions Implantation-Induced Effects in GaN Thin Films by Ghulam Husnain and Morgan Madhuku --- Chapter 3: MeV Electron Irradiation of Ion-Implanted Si-SiO2 Structures by Sonia B. • Keywords: margins ; boundaries ; plate convergence
Notes: This book deals with recent developments in evolutionary models for convergent margins. Reflecting transient modes for oceanic plate convergence, such boundaries are sites of varied tectonic processes, which provoke vigorous material recycling and frequent natural disasters such as massive earthquakes and catastrophic volcanism. Therefore, the origin of their diversity has long been one of the most significant themes in Earth science. The important scientific results obtained by prominent researchers who contributed chapters to this book pave the way for further in-depth studies on mobile belt frontiers, where harsh conditions hinder efforts to understand the Earth's spatiotemporal changes. | Contents: Chapter 1: Deposition and Deformation of Modern Accretionary-Type Forearc Basins: Linking Basin Formation and Accretionary Wedge Growth by Atsushi Noda and Ayumu Miyakawa --- Chapter 2: Cenozoic Fault Zone Activity and Geologic Evolution of the Offshore Regions of Fukushima and Miyagi Prefectures, Northeastern Japan, Based on Petroleum Exploration Data by Hiroyuki Arato --- Chapter 3: Three-Dimensional Architecture of the Median Tectonic Line in Southwest Japan Based on Detailed Reflection Seismic and Drilling Surveys by Yasuto Itoh, Tomotaka Iwata and Keiji Takemura --- Chapter 4: Inconsistent Structure and Motion of the Eastern Median Tectonic Line, Southwest Japan, during the Quaternary by Shigekazu Kusumoto, Keiji Takemura and Yasuto Itoh --- Chapter 5: Fission Track Thermochronology of Late Cretaceous Sandstones of the Izumi Group Adjacent to the Median Tectonic Line Active Fault System in Southwest Japan by Yasuto Itoh, Paul F. • Keywords: fractals ; fractal analysis ; fractal applications
Notes: Fractal analysis has entered a new era. The applications to different areas of knowledge have been surprising. Let us begin with the fractional calculus-fractal geometry relationship, which allows for modeling with extreme precision of phenomena such as diffusion in porous media with fractional partial differential equations in fractal objects. Where the order of the equation is the same as the fractal dimension, this allows us to make calculations with enormous precision in diffusion phenomena-particularly in the oil industry, for new spillage prevention. Main applications to industry, design of fractal antennas to receive all frequencies and that is used in all cell phones, spacecraft, radars, image processing, measure, porosity, turbulence, scattering theory. Benoit Mandelbrot, creator of fractal geometry, would have been surprised by the use of fractal analysis presented in this book: "Part I: Petroleum Industry and Numerical Analysis"; "Part II: Fractal Antennas, Spacecraft, Radars, Image Processing, and Measure"; and "Part III: Scattering Theory, Porosity, and Turbulence." It's impossible to picture today's research without fractal analysis. | Contents: Chapter 1: Applications of Radial Basis Function Schemes to Fractional Partial Differential Equations by Carlos Alberto Torres Martínez and Carlos Fuentes --- Chapter 2: Application of Fractional Calculus to Oil Industry by Benito F.
