Description / Table of Contents:
The behaviour of triphenylphosphine imine (TPPI) in reactions can be qualified in the following properties: 1. TPPI reacts basic; 2. various oxygen and sulfur compounds give rise to reactions involving exchange of the —NH-group by O or S; 3. the imino hydrogen can be substituted by other atoms or atomic groups. In the substitution reaction with elementary bromine, triphenylphosphine-N-bromine imine is obtained. The action of this bromine imine upon triphenylphosphine, triphenylarsine, and thioethers leads to the salt-like compounds: (R3P)2NBr, (R3P)N(AsR3)NBr and (R3P)(R2S)NBr. This new class of substances can be considered as bis- triphenylphosphine-, triphenylphosphine-triphenylarsine-nitrid-, and triphenylphosphine-dialkylsulfide-nitrid-bromides, respectively.
Notes:
