    Notes: Synthesis and Properties of Liquid Crystalline Derivatives of RhodanineSubstituted benzylidene-rhodanines 3-8 were prepared both by condensation of 1 a-f with suitable aldehydes and by acylation of 2a-g with substituted benzoyl chlorides or cinnamoyl chlorid. The mesomorphic properties of the compounds are discussed in respect to molecular structure with the aid of i.r.-, Raman- and u.v./vis-spectra of 3d, 3k, 4, 5, 6g, 8a. Absorption of the Coordination Polymeric Compounds M(C(CN)3)2 in the Region of 200-400 cm-1The infrared spectra of the tricyanmethanides of 3d metals M(C(CN)3)2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) in the region of 200-400 cm-1 are reported. Significant absorption bands between about 220 and 290 cm-1 are assigned to M - N-stretching frequencies.
    Notes: Die IR-Spektren der Metall-tricyanmethanide M(C(CN)3)2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) im Bereich von 200-400 cm-1 werden mitgeteilt. Auftretende Banden zwischen 220 und 290 cm-1 werden M - N-Valenzschwingungen zugeordnet.

Structures of Dicyanamides of Bivalent 3d Metals M(N(CN)2)2On the basis of infrared investigations in the region of 200-2 400 cm-1, of electronic spectra and X-ray studies the structures of the dicyanamides of bivalent 3d metals M(N(CN)2)2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) are described. The compounds may be attributed to two different structure types with the anions acting as tri- or bi-dentate bridging ligands, cobalt and manganese dicyanamide are forming structural isomers with pseudooctahedral (α-forms) or pseudotetrahedral (β-forms) microsymmetry. The polymer-tetrahedral type of the compounds, which is also including Zn(N(CN)2)2 seems to contain a hitherto undescribed bonding mode of bridging dicyanamide groups.
    Notes: Auf der Grundlage von IR-Untersuchungen im Bereich von 200-2 400 cm-1, von Elektronenspektren und Röntgenuntersuchungen werden die Strukturen von 3d-Metall-dicyanamiden M(N(CN)2)2 (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) beschrieben. Die Verbindungen lassen sich zwei verschiedenen Strukturtypen zuordnen, in denen die Anionen entweder als dreizählige oder zweizählige Brückenliganden auftreten. Kobalt- und Mangan-dicyanamid bilden Struktur-Isomere mit pseudo-oktaedrischer (α-Formen) bzw. -tetraedrischer Mikrosymmetrie (β-Formen). Der polymertetraedrische Verbindungstyp, dem auch Zinkdicyanamid zuzuordnen ist, scheint eine bisher nicht beschriebene Bindungsart verbrückender Dicyanamid-Gruppen zu enthalten.

The compounds obtained are characterized by means of i.r., 1H, 29Si, and 13C n.m.r. spectroscopy.
    Notes: Synthese und Reaktionen der Trimethylsilylmethansulfinsäure und ihrer Derivate des Typs Me3SiCH2S(O)—Y (Y = OH, OM, OR, NR2), dargestellt durch Insertion von SO2 bzw. R1NSO in Me3SiCH2MgCl, werden beschrieben. Die Charakterisierung der synthetisierten Verbindungen erfolgt mit Hilfe der IR-, 1H-, 29Si- und 13C-NMR-Spektroskopie.

    Description / Table of Contents: Spectroscopic Investigations of Dicyanamidometallates(II), [M(NCNCN)4]2- of the Zinc GroupThe synthesis of homologeous tetrakis-(dicyanamido)metallates(II) [M(NCNCN)4]2- (M: Zn, Cd, Hg) is reported. The coordination type of the ambivalent anionic ligand is discussed on the basis of the IR, ESCA, 15N, and 13C NMR spectra of the new complexes.
    Notes: Es wird über die Synthese homologer Tetrakis-(dicyanamido)-metallate(II), [M(NCNCN)4]2- (M: Zn, Cd, Hg) berichtet. Der in diesen Komplexen vorliegende Bindungstyp des anionischen, ambidenten Liganden wird anhand der IR-, ESCA-, 15N- und 13C-NMR-Spektren der neuen Komplexe diskutiert.

On the Dicyanomethanide-Ion, [C(CN)2]2--Synthesis and ReactivityThe preparation of metal dicyanomethanides, M2[C(CN)2] is reported. Infrared spectra of the compounds as well as the reactivity of Li2[C(CN)2] - phosphorylation and organometalation reactions have been investigated - are indicating an non-linear structure of the anion. For organophosphoryl-dicyanomethanides, {(RO)2P(O)}2C(CN)2 a further synthetic route is described which supports this structure proposal for the pseudochalconide anion [C(CN)2]2-.
    Notes: Es wird über die Darstellung von Metalldicyanmethaniden M2[C(CN)2](M: Li, Na, Ag) berichtet. Die IR-Spektren der Verbindungen weisen ebenso wie die Reaktivität von Li2[C(CN)2] - untersucht wurden Phosphorylierungs- und Organometallierungsreaktionen - eine winklige Struktur des Dicyanmethanid-Ions [C(CN)2]2- aus. Für Bis-(Organophosphoryl)-dicyanmethanide {(RO)2P(O)}2C(CN)2 wird ein weiterer Syntheseweg angegeben, der die Strukturvorstellungen für das Pseudochalkogenid-Ion [C(CN)2]2- unterstützt.

Coordination Behaviour of Diphenyl-cyanamido-thiophosphinateThe synthesis of the cyanamido-thiophosphinate-nickel(II) complexes NipynX2 (X = Ph2P(S)NCN, n = 0, 2, 4) is reported and the i.r. and u.v. spectra of these compounds are discussed. The single crystal X-ray analysis of the tetrapyridine complex shows that the anionic ligand is coordinated via the cyano-nitrogen atom. With a bond angle N(1)—C(1)—N(2) of 175.4(3)° the NCN group is nearly linear. The bond distances N(1)—C(1) and C(1)—N(2) are asymmetric and typical of NC double and triple bonds.
    Notes: Die Synthese von Cyanamido-thiophosphinat-nickel(II)-Komplexen NipynX2 (X = Ph2P(S)NCN, n = 0, 2, 4) wird beschrieben und die IR- und UV-Spektren dieser Verbindungen werden diskutiert. Die Einkristall-Röntgenstrukturanalyse des Tetrapyridin-Komplexes zeigt, daß der anionische Ligand über das Cyano-Stickstoff-Atom koordiniert ist. Die NCN-Gruppe ist mit einem Winkel N(1)—C(1)—N(2) von 175,4(3)° nahezu linear. Die Bindungsabstände N(1)—C(1) und C(1)—N(2) sind asymmetrisch und typisch für NC-Doppel-bzw. Dreifachbindungen.

[1] Crystal and Molecular Structure of Tris(ethylenediamine)nickel(II)-bis(2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy-cyanamidoacetate)Surprisingly, in the presence of ethylenediamine 2-methyl-4-chlorphenoxy-cyanamidoactetate reacts with nickel(II) and copper(II) ions preferentially under formation of complexes of the type [M(en)3]X2. The IR spectra and the X-ray diffraction investigations corresponding to [Ni(en)3][2-Me-ClC6H3OCH2C(O)NCN]2 show that two cyanamidocarboxylate ions [RC(O)NCN]- are bonded to the complex cation through, in each case, two N—H … O=C hydrogen bonds between NH protons of ethylenediamine ligands and the carbonyl oxygen atoms. Additionally, in the crystal weak N—H … N≡C bridges were found between the nitrile nitrogen atoms of the anions and NH protons of neighbouring complex cations.
    Notes: 2-Methyl-4-chlorphenoxy-cyanamidoacetat bildet zu unserer Überraschung mit Nickel(II)- und Kupfer(II)-Ionen in Gegenwart von Ethylendiamin bevorzugt Komplexe der Zusammensetzung [M(en)3]X2. IR-spektroskopische Messungen und die Kristallstruktrukturuntersuchung an [Ni(en)3][2-Me-4-ClC6H3OCH2C(O)NCN]2 zeigen, daß zwei Cyanamidocarboxylat-Anionen [RC(O)NCN]- über jeweils zwei N—H … O=C-Wasserstoffbrückenbindungen zwischen N—H-Protonen der Ethylendiamin-Liganden und den Carbonyl-Sauerstoffatomen an ein komplexes Kation [Ni(en)3]2+ gebunden sind. Im Kristall liegen außerdem noch schwache N—H … N≡C-Brücken zwischen Nitril-N-Atomen der Anionen und NH-Protonen benachbarter komplexer Kationen vor.
