Description: Evaluating the water quality of 12 monitoring sections in the Yellow River Basin comprehensively by grey clustering method based on the water quality monitoring data from the Ministry of environmental protection of China in May 2016 and the environmental quality standard of surface water. The results can reflect the water quality of the Yellow River Basin objectively. Furthermore, the evaluation results are basically the same when compared with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. The results also show that the overall water quality of the Yellow River Basin is good and coincident with the actual situation of the Yellow River basin. Overall, gray clustering method for water quality evaluation is reasonable and feasible and it is also convenient to calculate.

Description: Power synchronization control is a new control strategy of VSC-HVDC for connecting a weak power system. Different from the vector control method, this control method utilizes the internal synchronization mechanism in ac systems, in principle, similar to the operation of a synchronous machine. So that the parameters of controllers in power synchronization control will change the electromechanical oscillation modes and make an impact on the transient stability of power system. This paper present a mathematical model for small-signal stability analysis of VSC station used power synchronization control and analyse the impact of the dynamic interactions by calculating the contribution of the damping torque from the power synchronization control, besides, the parameters of controllers which correspond to damping torque and synchronous torque in the power synchronization control is defined respectively. At the end of the paper, an example power system is presented to demonstrate and va...

Description: An optical remote sensing model has been established based on two-beam interference theory to estimate marine oil slick thickness. Extinction coefficient and normalized reflectance of oil are two important parts in this model. Extinction coefficient is an important inherent optical property and will not vary with the background reflectance changed. Normalized reflectance can be used to eliminate the background differences between in situ measured spectra and remotely sensing image. Therefore, marine oil slick thickness and area can be estimated and mapped based on optical remotely sensing image and extinction coefficient.

Description: The retreat of mountain glaciers, notably in high Asia, provides evidence for the rise of global temperature. The mass balance is vital for the health of a glacier. If the amount of frozen precipitation in the accumulation zone exceeds the quantity of glacial ice loss due to melting or lies in the ablation zone, the glacier will advance. Conversely, if the accumulation is less than the ablation, the glacier will retreat. Glaciers in retreat will have negative mass balances, and if they do not reach an equilibrium between accumulation and ablation, will eventually disappear. Long-term changes of the mountain glaciers in the Tian Shan, Central Asia, are not well constrained. Analyses of satellite remote sensing data combined with the ground observations reveal a 37.5% decline of glaciered area from 1989 to 2014 in No.1 Glacier, the headwaters of the Urumqi River basin, Chinese Tian Shan, which could be linked to increased summer melting. The results show that the area of glaciers ...

Description: The combination of traditional coal-fired power plant and solar aided system is analysed in this paper based on a case study of a typical 330MW subcritical power unit. Three different types of combination schemes are proposed and calculated with detailed modelling. It is found that the upper limit of solar aided system capacity would be limited by SCR gas temperature, reheat temperature etc. which could vary between 12.5-35MW. The thermoeconomic performance increase in the sequence of preheat, main steam generation, reheat based on the average heat transfer temperature. Under different load, the coal consumption rate would decrease by about 5t/h. Considering the effect of DNI and actual load change curve, coal rate would decrease by 2.13% with solar aided system.
