Description / Table of Contents: Thioacyl Isocyanates, XVIII. Reaction of Ethoxy(thiocarbonyl) Isocyanate with Aldehydes and Ketones to 1,3,5-Oxathiazinones[4 + 2]-Cycloaddition of ethoxy(thiocarbonyl) isocyanate with aldehydes and some ketones affords the oxathiazinones 3. α,β-Unsaturated aldehydes react in the same way, that means with maintenance of their multiple CC-bond. These facts differentiate the thioacyl isocyanates from acyl isocyanates as well as from unpolar dienes.

Description / Table of Contents: Thioacyl Isocyanates, XVII. Reaction of Ethoxy(thiocarbonyl) Isocyanate with Vinyl EthersEthoxy(thiocarbonyl) isocyanate (5) reacts with linear and cyclic vinyl ethers to give dihydro-1,3-thiazinones (1, 3, 6, 8) besides unsaturated carboxamides (2, 4, 7, 9). In some cases β-lactams in low concentrations probably originated (spectroscopy). The cycloaddition occurred regiospecifically according to the polarity; it afforded with dihydropyran the bicyclic compound 6 with cis-bonded rings.
Spektroskopisch machte man in einigen Fällen β-Lactame in geringer Konzentration wahrscheinlich.

Notes: Thioacyl Isocyanates, XVI. To the Knowledge of Ethoxy(thiocarbonyl) IsocyanateEthoxy(thiocarbonyl) isocyanate (2), a thermically rather stable compound, is prepared by a simplified method. It dimerizes easily to 3, which itself is a good starting material for the monomer compound 2. The ratio between monomer and dimer (nitrobenzene, 93°C) and the reaction with some nucleophiles (to 6-9) are reported.
