Notes: BH3NH3 dimer and BH3NH3 complexes of methane, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, water, methanol, and hydrogen fluoride, are studied using the Møller–Plesset second-order perturbation theory and the 6-31++G** basis set to understand the features of dihydrogen bond. Complex binding energy is corrected for the basis set superposition error with the counterpoise method and for the zero point energy. Natural bond orbital analysis is used to discuss the charge transfer. Computed results indicate that dihydrogen bond does not occur in both BH3NH3...CH4 and BH3NH3...NH3 complexes. Apart from the B–Hδ−...H–N hydrogen bond (H bond) found previously in the BH3NH3 crystal, the B–H...H–X (X=C,O,F) H bonds have been observed in BH3NH3...HCN, BH3NH3...H2O, BH3NH3...CH3OH, and BH3NH3...HF complexes. As for the complexes in which only dihydrogen bonds appear the strength of dihydrogen bonds ranges from −13.9 to −20.5 kJ/mol. While the formation of BH3NH3 complexes, the weakest B–N bond of BH3NH3 contracts (its stretch appears blueshifted), and both B–H and X–H bonds in the B–H...H–X H bonds elongate slightly owing to the charge transfer from σ(B–H) to σ*(X–H), and the B–H...H tends to be bent. The charge transfer is generally proportional to the second-order perturbation energy lowering (ΔE2) due to the interaction of frontier orbitals in σ→σ* and n→σ* cases, and the threshold value (1.5 kcal/mol) of ΔE2 as one of the indices for judging the existence of dihydrogen bonds is recommended. © 2002 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Abstract The Raman-enhanced nondegenerate four-wave mixing (RENFWM) in benzene and methylbenzene was studied for five polarization geometries. One geometry gave suppression of the nonresonant background. A comparison between the experimental results and a theoretical curve has been made. From this, the transverse relaxation time of the dominant Raman modes in each liquid was obtained.

Notes: This paper proposes a backlight system that generates the regular dot pattern on thebottom of light guide to achieve uniform luminance. The simulation program employs the variabler-cut technique combined with some regular dot pattern such as shift-rectangular, hexagonal and soon. The r-cut technique based on molecular-dynamic method, was first bought up to apply in therandom dot pattern. By using such a technology, we could easily evaluate the right range of radiuswithin each cell to get the general dot distribution according to the specific position away from lightsources and the sources properties, after we divided the total effective domain into several sectionsof cells. In the end we made some fine-tuning on the boundaries to obtain the final result. It hasbeen revealed in the simulation that the light guide can achieve a uniformity of more than 90% andoptical efficiency about 26%. What we have more interest in are the optical properties that havemuch influence on both the uniformity and the optical efficiency. Particularly when it comes tolarger size backlight products used in PC screen for instance, it will have a great impact. Severalfigures in this paper also illustrate the dots distribution and the illuminance distribution

Notes: At present, the large backlight modules, used in illuminating advertising pictures, aredesigned and developed in various specifications, whose common goal is to try to manufacturethinner backlight modules and produce more uniform illumination. The currently well developedbacklighting technology for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) can be transformed and used in such anarea. However, the design of edge-lit backlight with size of over 1 square meter has greatdifficulties in eliminating the phenomenon of non-uniform illumination. In this paper, theapplication of Bezier curve in the simulating the dot pattern on the bottom of light guide ispresented, which directly determines the final light extraction efficiency and illuminatinguniformity. Taking the RMS deviation of illuminance values at several sample positions as themerit function, the shape of Bezier curves can be smoothly changed, so that the dot radius can beoptimized in a fast and efficient way. Such an optimization procedure uses only two variables andhas a fast convergence. As an example, a large light guide, 800mm×1000mm in size, was designedby applying the Bezier method, and the final uniformity of 70% was achieved. The most prominentfeature in such a method is that the thickness of designed light guide can decrease to 5 mm. In sum,the large sized edge-lit backlight can be designed in a short optimization period by simulating thedot radius distribution in a shape of the Bezier curve

Notes: The effect of different continuous material parameter functions in the non-homogeneousregion on the eigen-functions of crack tip fields is studied by means of the semi-analyticalnumerical method based on the wedge shaped non-homogeneous sector model. The cases of thedifferent opening angles of the non-homogeneous region, the different dissimilar material ratios, thedifferent configurations, etc. are analyzed systematically. The result shows that the effect becomessmaller as the opening angle of the wedge shaped non-homogeneous sector becomes smaller. Thevaluable conclusion is drawn that the differences among the eigen-functions corresponding to thecases can be neglected as long as the opening angle is small enough for the engineering application, which facilitates the engineering application of the non-homogeneous region model

Notes: In cement industry, many grinding up systems are on operating now. The tradition process of tube mill grinding system is high energy consumption, so it’s low efficiency, especially in the final cement grinding process. The value and advantage of slag is recognized more and more, but it’s difficult to be grinded up. Furthermore, the disadvantage and shortages to grind up clinker compounded with slag to produce cement are obvious and adopted. The best process is to grind up slag, clinker separately. Then, these two kinds of powder are compounded by a mixer. Hereby, it introduces a design of the process to grind up clinker, slag by one roller mill

Notes: Based on the favorable effect of the elements Al and Si on the improvement in reducing hydrogen permeability, a new combined process of simultaneous aluminizing and siliconizing, followed by oxidizing treatments using double glow plasma technology on 316L substrate was developed in this work. Microstructure and phase structure of as- prepared coating was examined by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. The results showed that the simultaneous aluminizing and siliconizing coating consisted of an outer aluminide layer (dissolved Si) and a diffusion zone. After a combined process, a continuous and compact Al2O3-rich coating was formed at the outermost surface. SiO2 was also detectable in the oxide coating

Notes: Because of the particularity of distribution of the residual stress of cold-formed thin-wall steel members, now there has not yet been a proper method for directly considering the influence of the residual stress in calculating the reliable capacity of carrying load of cold-formed thin-wall steel members, and such is the typical case in China’s National Technical Specification of Cold-formed Thin-wall Steel Structures GB50018-2002. With the cold-formed thin-wall channel steel taken as specific object in this study as well as assumed to be ideal elastic-plastic body, their finite modular models are set up in ANSYS. According to the tested results and the distributing rules of residual stress, the models of the residual stress of cold-formed thin-wall channel steel are established close to the factual data, and also the initial stress file is set up that can describe the magnitude and distribution of the residual stress. The file has two features: first, it is likely to find out about the rules of the cold-steel residual stress varying in the direction of thickness by using the values of residual stress at some integral points in thickness direction of a specified module , and second, it is applicabled to simulate various distributions of residual stress. So theultimate load of the member can be worked out and elastic-plastic calculating problemof cold-formed thin-walled steel sections can be easily solved by introducing theinitial stress file into the stability analysis of ANSYS
