Notes: Bonnet tool polishing, combined traditional optical polishing technique with modern NCtechnology, is an novel optical polishing technique. As the motion control and material removalprocess is different from metal cutting NC machine tool, the NC programming for bonnet toolpolishing NC machine tools cannot be carried out with commercial CAM software. This paperanalyses the kinematics of feed mechanism and precession mechanism using coordinatetransformation method and sets up the feed and precession kinematics equations. The arithmetic ofpost processing applied to NC automatic programming system is proposed according to kinematicsequations and detail bonnet tool polishing technique

Notes: The effect of technological parameters on MAO ceramic coating were investigatedthrough the technique of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) on TC4 titanium alloy and. Microstructure andmorphology of coatings were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The result shows that electric parameters and compositions of the electrolyte have notableeffects on the growth of MAO ceramic coatings. The cathodic and anodic voltage rise graduallywith the oxidation time increasing. The growth rate of ceramic coating is fast at the beginning, andthen turns slowly. The ceramic coatings can be divided into three layers from interior to exterior, such as the transition layer, the dense layer and the porous layer. The coating is mainly composed ofrutile and anatase and combined with the substrate firmly. The ceramic coating’s composition ininner and outer layers appears quite different. The ceramic coating on titanium alloy is of excellentperformance on anti-attrition and anti-corrosion

Notes: Static and dynamic characteristic of carbon nanotube is analyzed by molecular dynamicsimulation. Static analysis show that maximum deflection of carbon nanotube appears at 0.033nmdistance from free end of cantilever. When the value of driving voltage is less, the flexibility ismore important, then the stiffness increase with the voltage increasing, and the collapse structure orhole appear on carbon nanobute. Under low pressure condition, deflection difference onequi-increase of pressure between no damping and damping simulation is larger than that on highpressure. The results of forced vibration indicate that system response consist of transient andsteady-state response. With steps of molecular dynamic simulation increasing, transient responsedisappears gradually, so system response includes only steady-state response, which is simpleharmonic vibration with the same frequency as excitation force. These results are in accord with theclassical vibration theory. Moreover they will provide theoretic foundation for designing ofnanostructure device

Notes: Traditional adaptive control technologies in machining process optimization are limited inapplications because they depend much on sensors, controllers and other hardware. An off-lineoptimization method for end milling process with constant cutting power is presented. On takingadvantage of virtual machining which simulates milling process, acquires cutting parameters andpredicts cutting forces, method taking constant cutting power as an objective is discussed to optimizefeed rates and cutting speeds. Based on optimal result, the feed rates and spindle revolutions in NCprogram are re-scheduled. Controlled milling experiments show that machining time is reduced andmachining stability is improved by using the optimized NC program

Notes: In order to make the operator freely walk in virtual environment (VE), a new prototype ofVE system for assembly is presented in this paper. In this system, a special machine is designed andit enables the operator to walk inside the VE in any directions over a long distance without actuallyleaving the physical device. Images produced by the computer are projected upon the surface of alarge spherical cap screen surrounding the operator by means of a group of high power projectors.Signals provided by the position sensors attached to the operator are used by the computer to updatethe projected images, which provides the operator the illusion of walking freely through the virtualscenes. This VE system can acquire wide field of view and form panorama surrounding the operator, which may enhance the realistic sense of simulation

Notes: Based on the theory of kinematics for multi-body system, the relative motion constraintequation is deduced according to the structure layout and the error distribution of the ultra-precisionlathe Nanoform200. By solving the constraint equation, the corrective NC code is derived that cancompensate the geometric errors. The error compensation software is developed aimed at the ultraprecision manufacturing of optics parts. The cutting experiments show that the method and modelin this paper can improve the accuracy about 50% for the ultra-precision turning of optical parts

Notes: Motorized spindle is one of the core parts of high-speed machine tool, to a great extent, its thermal characteristics determine the thermal stress and thermal deformations, therefore theresearch on thermal characteristics is of great significance to increase the accuracy of high-speedmachine tool. In this paper, the heat generation developed in the built-in motor and the bearings iscalculated. The motorized spindle is modeled and its thermal characteristics analysis by finiteelement method is done using ANSYS software, in the foundation of analyzing its configurationand heat transfer. The variation regularity of its temperature-rise and temperature field is alsosummarized. Thereby it provides a powerful theoretical basis for reducing temperature–rise, calculating thermal deformations and improving working conditions

Notes: Due to complex process and high difficult operation for large-scale products assembly, theapplication of virtual assembly (VA) has an important significance and also an actual value. In thispaper the key techniques of VA for large-scale complex products are proposed, and their assemblycharacteristics (such as their organization form, human participation, process planning andoptimization and so on) are analyzed. First, a new virtual environment (VE) system consideringhuman activities is set up. Second, an integration approach is realized to transform data from CAD toVA system, and a hybrid method on the basis of virtual reality (VR) and intelligent algorithm isapplied to optimize and evaluate assembly process planning. Moreover, assembly documentsgeneration and Web training for assembly workers are implemented. Finally, an application case ofthe VA system for a complex product is given, and further work is pointed out
