Notes:
Abstract The kinetics of the gas phase pyrolysis of ethyl fluoroacetate have been measured over the temperature range of 340–365 °C and pressure range of 66–187 Torr. The reaction, in a static system seasoned with allyl bromide, and in the presence or absence of propene inhibitor, is homogeneous, unimolecular, and obeys a first-order rate law. The temperature dependence of the rate coefficients is given by the following Arrhenius equation: log k1 (sec−1)=(12.57±0.26)–(194.0±3.1 kJ/mol)/2.303 RT. The result of this work confirms that the sequence of the α-halo substituent effects follows the order of their electronegativity differences.
