Description:
Three copper(II) complexes with the ligand bis[(2-pyridyl)methylene]pyridine-2,6-dicarbohydrazone (H 2 L), {[Cu 3 (L)(ClO 4 ) 3 (C 2 H 5 OH) 2 (H 2 O)] · (ClO 4 ) · (H 2 O)} n ( 1 ), {[Cu 3 (L)(SO 4 ) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ] · 4H 2 O} n ( 2 ), and [Cu 6 (L) 2 (CH 3 COO) 6 (OH) 2 ] · 2H 2 O ( 3 ), were synthesized and structurally characterized. In each compound, the L 2– ligand coordinates to three copper ions to produce a trinuclear copper subunit. The trinuclear copper subunits in compound 1 are connected by the bridging of ClO 4 – groups to build a 1D triple-chain structure, and those in compound 2 are linked into 1D chain structure by the bridging of SO 4 2– groups. Compound 3 presents a hexanuclear copper cluster formed by two trinuclear copper units linked by two μ 3 -OH bridges.
