    Notes: Abstract Recently a method has been suggested to analyze the chaotic behaviour of a conservative dynamical system by numerical analysis of the fundamental frequencies. Frequencies and amplitudes are determined step by step. As the frequencies are not generally orthogonal, a Gramm-Schmidt orthogonalization is made and for each new frequency the old amplitudes of previously determined frequencies are corrected. For a chaotic trajectory variations of the frequencies and amplitudes determined over different time periods are expected. The change of frequencies in such a calculation is a measure of the chaoticity of the trajectory. While amplitudes are corrected, the frequencies (once determined) are constant. We suggest here simple linear corrections of frequencies for the effect of other close frequencies. The improvement of frequency determination is demonstrated on a model case. This method is applied to the first fifty numbered asteroids.

    Notes: Abstract Altimetric measurements of the GEOSAT satellite were used for the determination of geopotential scale factorR 0. The geopotential valueW 0 on the geoid surface was then computed (W 0 =GM/R 0). The GEOSAT Geophysical Data Records (GDR's) covering an initial period of the Exact Repeat Mission (ERM) were filtered and processed. The necessary corrections were made in order to allow a precise detection of the sea surface. Gravitational geopotential, rotation and permanent tides were taken into account and the equipotential surface which is the best approximation of the sea surface was found. The determination of the potential valueW 0 on the mean geoid surface in this way is very promising. An associated value withW 0 - the geopotential scale factorR 0 - seems to be a very good Earth dimension defining quantity. Moreover, there are many possible applications ofW 0 (R 0) in modern geophysics. The incorporation of one of these parameters - we now recommendR 0 - into the set of the Primary Geodetic Parameters (PGP) is discussed and suggested.

    Notes: Abstract The temporary capture of the dust grains in the exterior resonances with planets is studied in the frames of the planar circular three-body problem with Poynting-Robertson (PR) drag. For the Earth and particles ~ 10 Μm the resonances 4/5, 5/6, 6/7, 7/8 are shown to be most effective. The capture is only temporary (of order 105 years) and the position of resonance may be calculated from semi-analytical model using averaged disturbing function. These semi-analytical results are confirmed by numerical integration. For various planet this picture changes as with increasing planetary mass the more exterior resonances become more important. We showed that for Jupiter (at least in the space between Jupiter and Saturn) the resonance 1/2 plays the dominant role. The capture time is here several myr but again eccentricity is evolving to eccentricity e 0 ~ 0.48 of libration point for this resonance.
