    Description: A total of 394 (255 males,139 females) live freshwater crayfish Astacus leptodactylus from four stations of Aras reservoir in West Azarbaijan Province (North-Western Iran) were studied during the winter until early autumn of 2009 for the presence of parasites, Epibionts and Fungal agents. Parasitological surveys were carried out on gills exoskeleton and internal organs, mycological examinations on the exoskeleton (the legs, abdominal cuticle and the eggs). 9 epibionts and parasites peritrich protozoans including :Cothurnia sieboldii (68.5%), Zoothamnium spp. (56.6%), Vorticella similis (45.6%), Chilodonella spp. (0.5%), Podophrya fixa (7.8%), Epistylis chrysemidis (53.2%), Pyxicola annulata (66%), Opercularia articulata (19.8%), Tetrahymena pyriformis (0.5%) were recorded. From Metazoan parasites group, Branchiobdella kozarovi (71%) as the first observation was the only parasite recorded from exoskeleton with prevalence (100%) during spring and summer of the study year. Infected gills were heavily damaged with Aeolosoma hemprichi (Annelid) in winter with 90% prevalence. Other Epibiont fouling organisms such as Rotatoria free living Nematods were observed in this survey. Furthermore, on the mycotic agents identified Penicillium expansum Aspergillus flavus Alternaria sp. Fusarium sp. and Saprolegnia sp. were isolated in IM media and identified with slides cultured from cuticular melanized lesions and eggs of infected specimens. This is the first investigation on epibionts, parasites and fungal organisms of the endemic crayfish in Aras reservoir, Iran.

    Description: The Astacus leptodactylus specimens were collected from four sites of Aras reservoir, North-West of Iran and examined for the epibionts during 2009. Protozoan epibionts from ciliophora (one genus and seven species) and tracheophyta were isolated from the cuticular surface of different body parts of narrow-claw crayfish, A.leptodactylus. Seasonal prevalence of infestation was determined in 394 individuals of A.leptodactylus. The facultative ciliate Tetrahymena pyriformis was identified on the gills and gill haemocoel with 0.5% prevalence. Futhermore , epibiont fouling organisms such as Epistylis chrysemidis (52.3%) Vorticella similis (45.9%) Cothurnia sieboldii (68.5%) Pyxicola annulata (66%) Chilodonella spp.(0.5%) Zoothamnium intermedium(57.1%) Opercularia articulate (20.6%) and Podophrya fixa (8.6%) were also isolated from 13 body parts of A.leptodactylus. The presence of Chilodonella infestation is the first record of this genus on freshwater crayfish species. The comparison of biometrical data of the epibionts showed no significant differences in prevalence of seasonal infestation between sampling sites. The current work represents the first documentation for the presence of protozoan epibionts on A.leptodactylus in Aras Reservoir, Iran.

    Description: Carotenoid pigments are responsible for pigmentation of edible fish muscle and skin of ornamental fishes. Accumulation of this colorful substance is important in fish marketing and there is a need to add carotenoids in cultured fish. In this study, Carassius auratus feeding was undertaken with 3 treatments including concentrate, freezed fairy shrimps (Phallocryptus spinosa) and concentrate with the same ratio and freezed Artemia urmiana and concentrate with the same ratio for 90 days. The amounts of total carotenoids were determined in the skin of different treatments at the end of the experiment using spectrophotometer model WPA, UK, astaxantin, canthaxantin and beta-carotene using HPLC model Younglin , UK. The results revealed that the most skin pigmentation obtained from the diet contained fairy shrimp. Also, carotenoid pigments were significantly higher in goldfish fed with live food supplement comparing concentrate one. The results showed a significant difference among different diets as in concentrate, concentrate and freezed fairy shrimps, concentrate and freezed artemia diets. Amounts of Mean (±SD) total carotenoids were 1.09± 0.3, 3.90 ± 0.021 and 2.07 ± 0.05mg/100 , astaxantin were 84.57±0.23, 205.82± 0.40 and 102.24± 0.63 ng/g and canthaxanthin were 0.24± 0.01, 35.79± 0.17 and 30.64 ± 0.2 ng/g and beta carotene were 34.73± 0.11, 138.78 ± 0.2 and 69.77 ± 0.15 ng/g of fish skin, respectively. Therefore, Fairy shrimps can be used as a suitable replacement for artemia to enhance color of ornamental fish. This is an environmental friendly food with the lower cost compared to high cost synthetic pigments.

    Description: This research was carried out to determine water reuse effects on growth indices of rainbow trout. For this reason 4 groups including: Control (with use of 100% fresh water), Test 1(rearing with use of 30% recycled water (with physical filtration and 10% fresh water), Test 2 (using of 10% recycled water (with physical filtration and 30% fresh water), Test 3(using of 100% recycled water) was done. Fish stock of each groups were done with 62 fish in each square meter and average (±SD) weight (15±1.5). The Growth index, SGR, CF, FCR, SR between different groups in each month was calculated and determined. In this research comparing the average of monthly growth increasment between different groups indicated that significant decrease of growth in test groups with control group as well as groups 1 and 2 with 3 groups. There were no significant differences in this factor between groups 1 and 2. FCR, SR and MR showed a significant difference between different groups. These results showed with increasing the replacement of water in rainbow trout culture ponds with recycled water cased significant decrease in SR and CF and significant increase in MR and finally decrease in production and density per unit area.

    Description: This study was carried out in three farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) of Guilan Province. Heavy metals (Iron and Lead) were measured using Atomic absorption spectrometry in food, water and fish muscles of farms. The amounts of Iron and Lead (Mean ±SD) in all water samples from studied farms were 55.29±2.71 and 2.066±0.714 µg/L, respectively. The amounts of Iron and Lead (Mean± SD) in consumed feed of studied farms were 494.51± 89.18 and 3.494± 1.462 mg/kg, respectively. Also, the amounts of Iron and lead in fish muscle of studied farms were measured as 7.715± 1.050 and 0.39970± 0.073 mg/kg, respectively. The obtained results revealed the existence of higher amounts of iron in fish muscle above Codex standard, 2001 and lower amounts of lead levels from the mentioned standard in studied farms. The obtained data showed no significant differences in water, food and muscle of fish in studied areas (p〉0.05).

    Description: In this research the affect of A. hydrophila on pathogenesis of Crayfish A. leptodactylus was carried out. This study was designed in three groups as treatments and one group as control in triplicate with 20 Crayfish in each glass aquarium. The treatments have exposed to A. hydrophila. The concentrations of the bacteria in treatments were , and CFUmL-1 respectively. The untreated control group was disinfected by oxytetracyclin at concentration of 100 ppm for 24 hours. The haemolymph samples were withdrawn for measuring of THC and TPC within interval hours (2, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 144, 240 and 336). The Crayfish samples were then fixed in Davidson fixative. The results showed that the differences of THC value between treatment 4 (95.33±23.16) and control (1.13±.45) were significant (P〈0.05) as well as control and treatments 3 (35.33±16.16) and 4 (95.33±23.16) during 2 initial hours. In case of THC the significant difference (P〈0.05) was observed between control group (72.33±15.04) and treatment 3 (13.13±5.85) after 48 hours. During 240 hours, also the difference of THC value between control group (80.33±24.94) with treatment 2 (14.67±3.51) was significant (P〈0.05). The finding of TPP value showed that there was no significant difference between control group and treatments in during mentioned times (P〈0.05). The result of histopathology in hepatopancreas and gill sections showed that hemocyte aggregation and necrosis within pyknosis of nucleus. In lower concentrations of bacteria no pathological changes of heart were observed. In digestive tract no changes were appeared in treatments, but in concentration of 3×108 CFU ml-1 a low aggregation of hemocytes was revealed.
