Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM) was induced experimentally in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri Richardson). Furthermore trouts from a hatchery having a “natural” infection with Yersinia ruckeri were examined. The change of the haemogram of infected fish was recorded. In an advanced stage of infection decreases in haematocrit and haemoglobin, in number of red cells, lymphocytes and thrombocytes were observed. Monocytes and neutrophile granulocytes were increased in numbers and showed a strong phagocytosis. They seemed to play a very important part in protection against this bacterial infection. The lymphocytes and erythrocytes showed no significant morphological change. The more or less evident decrease of the mentioned red cell parameters were interpreted as attributable to haemorrhages resulting from the bacterial infection.〈section xml:id="abs1-2"〉〈title type="main"〉Zusammenfassung Die Reaktion des Haemogramms der Regenbogenforelle (Salmo gairdneri Richardson) auf eine experimentell hervorgerufene und eine natürliche Infektion mil Yersinia ruckeriRegenbogenforellen (Salmo gairdneri Richardson) wurden experimentell mit dem Erreger der Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM, “Rotmaulseuche”) infiziert.
