Description: Ocean acidification and global warming might affect the production of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP), dimethylsulfide (DMS), and dissolved acrylic acid (AAd) by marine phytoplankton. Monoculture incubation experiments were conducted with the dinoflagellate Amphidinium carterae to investigate the effects of elevated CO2 concentration and temperature on growth and productions of DMSP, DMS, and AAd. Two pCO2 levels were set as 400 and 1000 μatm, and two temperatures were set as 20 and 23 °C. The growth of A. carterae remained unaffected by an increase of CO2 to 1000 μatm and a rise of temperature of 3 °C. Moreover, the elevated CO2 concentration and temperature had no significant effects on the concentrations and cell-normalized concentrations of DMSP, DMS, and AAd. No additive or synergistic effects of elevated CO2 concentration and temperature on A. carterae were observed, indicating that A. carterae was insensitive to elevated CO2 and temperature in short time incubation.

Description: Using typhoon data over the Northwestern Pacific (NWP) in 60 years (1950-2009), the interdecadal variations of typhoon frequency, track and intensity are statistically analyzed. The results showed that the frequency of typhoon over the NWP was high in 1960s and low in 1970s. From the late 1990s, the frequency is low again. The track of typhoon was mainly shifting, and the average track was at the southern NWP in 1960s and 1970s, but in recent 10 years, the track was at the northern NWP. The intensity of typhoon was strong in 1950s and 1960s, but becomes weak in recent 25 years. In high frequency periods of typhoon, the subtropical high of NWP was weak and its position appears easternly. The distribution of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) shows characteristics of “La Nina” event. In low frequency periods of typhoon, the subtropical high of NWP is strong and its position appears westernly. The distribution of SST shows characteristics of “El Nino” event.

Notes: The micronuclei of the ciliated protozoan Pseudourostyla cristata were eliminated by amputation shortly before binary fusion. The amicronucleate cell lines derived from regenerants were maintained for more than a year. They exhibited a lower viability and reduced vigor in asexual propagation. There was some improvement in the growth of the cell lines 1 mo after operation, but the growth rate remained subnormal even up to 1 yr of culture. The exact cause of the poor growth and survival in the first 3 wk after operation, whether the loss of the micronucleus or operational damage, remains to be determined. It is nevertheless clear that the micronucleus is important for subsequent asexual propagation. The amicronucleate cell lines were permanently crippled in morphogenesis, unlike the situation in Paramecium amicronucleates in which stomatogenesis returned to near-normal during asexual propagation. They always included some cells with a characteristically defective adoral zone of membranelles, reduced number of frontal-ventral-transverse cirri, and reduced body length. They were also reluctant to encyst. It is evident that the micronucleus is important for maintaining normality of the oral apparatus. It is postulated that the permanent stomatogenic crippling of amicronucleates might be related to genomic reduction in the developing macronucleus in sexual reproduction, as exhibited by other hypotrichs. The morphological defects associated with the adoral zone of membranelles may be rationalized as arising from the spreading of a zone of degeneration in the cortex affecting the left edge of the membranelles.

Notes: [Auszug] We have been successful in producing single-crystal graphite by heating in a graphite crucible some titanium boride powder at 2,500 C. under vacuum for 2 hr. A thin, highly reflecting, flexible film forms at the surface of the melt, which may then be carefully removed from the substrate (Fig. 1). ...

Notes: Establishment of a reasonable expert system integrated developing environment (ES-IDE)is a critical factor for developing ES promptly and effectively. By current investigation and analysis ofrelated technology, a kind of IDE for fault diagnosis expert system (FDES) on the base ofProtégé+CLIPS+Eclipse tool-chain was brought forward. The model of FDES was realized byProtégé and described by ontological analysis method. Combined with CLIPS, inference engine andknowledge base (KB) were realized and applied to diagnose and deduce, the developing period of EScore framework was shortened, and flexibility of system was increased. Based on componentprinciple, every system module was encapsulated in form of Eclipse plug-in, so users can reconstructand reconfigure to compile and make ES application instance uniformly according to their specificdemands. Industry experiments prove that this system can generate FDES in a shorter period, hasstrong transplanting ability and friendly human-computer interface

Notes: Aiming at some problems in the fields of industry monitoring technology (IMT) such asbad dynamic ability and poor versatility, this paper brought forward a kind of intelligent Statusmonitoring and Fault diagnosis Network System (SFNS) based on UPnP-Universal Plug and Play. The model for fault diagnosis network system was established according to characteristics andrequirements of IMT network, and system network architecture was designed and realized by UPnP.Using embedded system technology, real-time data collection node, monitoring center node and datastorage server were designed, and that supplies powerful real-time data support for SFNS. Industryfields experiments proved that this system can realize self recognition, seamless linkage and other selfadapting ability, and can break through the limitation of real IP address to achieve real-time remotemonitoring on line
