Abstract: This book systematically presents the technical aspects of supercritical water oxidation and supercritical water gasification for energy and environmental applications, which include reactor design, construction materials, corrosion, salt precipitation, etc. The book provides a comprehensive introduction to the properties of supercritical water, and the industrial applications, reaction mechanisms and reaction kinetics of supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) and supercritical water gasification (SCWG). The reactions occurring in supercritical water are complex, and studying their reaction mechanisms is of great importance for the development of supercritical water processing technologies. Accordingly, the book explains the oxidative mechanisms and kinetics of organic matter in supercritical water in detail. However, the harsh reaction conditions in supercritical water can easily create severe reactor corrosion and salt deposition problems. Therefore, the book also comprehensively reports on the mechanism analysis, state of research, and development trends regarding these two problems. Lastly, the book summarizes the development of supercritical water processing technologies, including studies on SCWO and SCWG, as well as near-zero-emission systems of pollutants based on SCWO technology. In short, the book provides a wealth of valuable information for all readers who are interested in using SCWO for organic waste treatment, and in using SCWG for hydrogen production with wet biomass.

Notes: Many thin-walled aero-parts have complex structure, and high machining accuracy isrequired. But because of their poor rigidity, it is easy to bring machining deformation caused by theexistence of the clamping residual stress, and influences machining accuracy of workpiece. At thepresent time it is a focal point how to reduce the deformation the machined surface. Present studiesmainly focus on the influences of clamping points, clamping order and clamping force on residualstresses. It is few studied for clamping schemes how to influence the residual stresses and the fatigueresistance of the machined parts. To reflect the relationship between clamping schemes and residualstresses and fatigue resistance, finite element models with different clamping schemes were built andthe clamping process was simulated. A conclusion is obtained that it is advisable to adopt even andsymmetry distributed clamps and multi-point clamps to reduce the workpiece distortion ofaero-multi-frame components due to the clamping. This study conclusion has been validated by theactual production

Notes: Mechanical tests have been conducted to understand compressive behavior of a plainweave C/SiC composite, especially to investigate the failure mechanism. The stress-strain curves ofthis composite show linear feature in compression. The specimens fail along a flat plane 13°~15° tothe weave plane, running across four typical regions in the bulk: weft bundle, warp/weft interface, warp bundle, and inter-ply. According to the observed fracture route, four basic failure modes areschematically presented. Cracks form and develop in these areas along fiber/matrix interphase orwithin matrix, depending on the strength competition between interphase and matrix. The fracturemechanism reveals dependence of compress strength on matrix abundance between and withinbundles. Based on the failure modes new method for compress strength prediction can be furtherinvestigated

Notes: Abstract The accumulation of the mRNA corresponding to the gene coding for a hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein has been studies in rice. The patterns of gene expression obtained are similar to those observed in maize in regions rich in dividing cells such as the meristematic zones of roots. However, the gene does not seem to be induced by wounding as it is the case in maize. This effect is correlated with the absence of sequences present in the promoter of the maize gene and that have been described as responsible for ethylene induction on other plant systems. Instead, the promoter has a sequence that corresponds to abscisic acid-responsive elements and, in fact, HRGP mRNA levels can be two-fold increased in rice leaves by ABA. The genes coding for homologous proteins in two cereal species such as maize and rice appear, therefore, to have distinct mechanisms of gene regulation.

Notes: Abstract Timothy (Phleum pratense L.) is an important forage grass grown in northern temperate areas. Development of haploid cell culture techniques for timothy has been limited due to the recalcitrance of timothy in tissue culture. In this study, timothy anther culture techniques were established. Liquid PG-96 (Pulli and Guo, 1996) induction medium significantly promoted embryo yield; the best result was 800–1000 embryos (calli) per 100 anthers. Genotype was an important factor in androgenetic embryogenesis of timothy. Embryos were obtained from 16 genotypes out of the 28 genotypes tested. The optimum stage for microspore development was between the very late uninucleate stage and the binucleate stage. Cold pretreatment applied to the donor plants (spikes) increased embryo yield. Despite a high embryo induction rate, green plant regeneration rate was relatively low. The frequency of albinos was reduced by use of low light intensity conditions during regeneration. Over 300 green plants were recovered.

Notes: Abstract Microspore culture is a very important and useful tool in plant breeding for haploid production and has been developed for many years.Brassica campestris (Brassica rapa L. ssp.oleifera) is an important oilseed crop, but it is relatively recalcitrant in tissue culture including microspore culture. The microspore culture in our laboratory is based on the Canadian protocol. Thirty genotypes ofB. campestris were included in this study; twenty produced embryos. The highest yield was 5930 embryos per 100 buds from Canadian genotype Cv-2, this result was one of the best that had been reported in microspore culture inB. campestris. The buds measuring 2.0 mm to 3.9 mm in length responded best to produce embryos, the optimum timing for microspore culture was confirmed to be during the mid-late to very-late uninucleate stage. The buds could be removed from either the main raceme or lateral racemes. Activated charcoal (150 mg l-1) was added to the liquid NLN medium, it promoted embryogenesis significantly; embryo development was faster and the embryo yield was significantly higher than those cultures without activated charcoal. The donor plant condition was considered an important factor influencing embryogenesis; older donor plants (older than five weeks) and a cold treatment are recommended.

Description: Without the effect of cutting force and cutting heat, electrochemical machining helical gear has the advantage of high production efficiency, good processing quality and tool cathode lossless. But the machine that based on small PLC control system does not have the function of helix interpolation, limiting the research and application of electrochemical machining helical gear. According to the principle of electrochemical machining of cylindrical helical gear, using pulse output instruction and powerful ability of floating point arithmetic of PLC, a helical gear two-axis linkage control algorithm is developed. This paper introduces the basic principle and presents a detailed derivation of algorithm formula. According to the principle and the algorithm formula, the control program is developed and the electrochemical machining of internal helical cylindrical gear is realized. Experiments show that the two-axis linkage control algorithm is stable, reliable and meet the needs of th...
