Description / Table of Contents:
Condensation Products of Squaric Acid with Primary and Secondary Amines, IIThe Cu-chelates 3a, 3b and 4 of the 1,3-bisaminocyclobutenediylium 2,4-diolates (squaric acid 1,3-bisamides) 1 and 2 with aromatic substituents containing donor groups in o-position were prepared. The Cu2⊕: ligand ratio was found to be 2 : 1. The squaric acid derivatives 7a, b containing a new type of chromophore system were isolated and investigated. A protoncatalyzed isomerisation of the squarie acid 1,2-bisamides 8a and 8b to the squaric acid 1,3-bisamides 1 and 9 was observed. - The polymer 12 could be obtained from the m-ammoniostyrenesquarate 11 but not by direct polymerization of the vinyl compound 10. The reaction of squaric acid with o-phenylenediamine, which leads to the formation of cyclobuta[b]quinoxalines, was investigated by isolation and characterization of the intermediates 13 and 16. - The squaric acid 1,3-bisamides 17 and 18 with non-aromatic substituents were prepared and their i. r. spectra discussed.
Notes:
