Optical and Structural Study of Sr2GdGaO5 Phase Activated by Trivalent EuropiumSr2GdGaO5 belongs to the structural type Cs3CoCl5 (a = 6.781 ± 0.003 Å, c = 11.18 ± 0.01 Å). In Sr2GdGaO5 half of the strontium atoms occupy the 10 coordinated sites, whereas the second half is statistically distributed with gadolinium in 8 coordinated sites. Under λ = 3 650 Å and λ = 3 130 Å excitation the emission intensity of the Eu3+ activated phase is strongly dependent on Eu3+ doping and temperature.

Résumé. La phase Sr2GdGaO5 appartient au type structural Cs3CoCl5 (a = 6,781 ± 0,003 Å. c = 11,18 ± 0,01 Å). Dans Sr2GdGaO5 la moitié des atomes de strontium occupe les sites de coordinence 10, tandis que la seconde moitié se répartit statistiquement avec le gadolinium dans les sites de coordinence 8. Sous excitation λ = 3 650 Å et λ = 3 130 Å l′intensité d′émission de cette phase dopée à l′europium trivalent dépend fortement de la concentration en activateur Eu3+ et de la température.
