The Reactivity of 2.3-DihydrofluorantheneFormaldehyde attacks 2.3-dihydrofluoranthene (4) in position 2 but not in position 10b, yielding the compounds 10 and 13. Reaction of 4 with bromine and nitrous acid results in the formation of 14, 15, 16, and 1.x-dinitrofluoranthene. Cyclopropanation of 4 yields 25, 26, and 27. Cis/trans-addition of malononitrile to 4 leads to 28 and 29, and (stereospecific cis-) addition of amines to 4 affords 30 and 31. Starting from 14 the compounds 17-20 are obtained, from which the 1-substituted fluoranthenes 21-24 can be synthezised free of isomers.

Unter den Bedingungen der Aldolreaktion reagiert 2.3-Dihydro-fluoranthen (4) mit Formaldehyd ausschließlich in 2-Stellung zu 10 und 13; die 10b-Stellung wird nicht angegriffen. Brom bzw. salpetrige Säure überführen 4 in 14, 15, 16 sowie in ein 1.x- Dinitro-fluoranthen. 4 läßt sich cyclopropanieren (25, 26, 27), addiert Malodinitril (cis/trans) zu 28 und 29 sowie sekundäre Amine (stereospezifisch cis) zu 30, 31. Ausgehend von 14 sind die Verbindungen 17-20 zugänglich, die ihrerseits die Darstellung der isomerenfreien, in 1-Stellung substituierten Fluoranthene 21-24 ermöglichen.
