Description / Table of Contents:
Anodic and cathodic behaviour or copper in aqueous solutionsWith the as yet unknown but estimated formation affinities for CuO2 and Cu(OH)2 the electrochemical affinity/overpotential digram can be used also for the Culaqueous solution system in order to find the active, passive and transpassive zones of copper, In passive copper, there is formed, in alkaline solution, a double cover film electrode Cu/CuO/Cu(OH)2. The formation of the Cu2O film occurs at the maximum excess potential. The pH relationship of the Flade reference potential follows the law: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ U_{H,F} = (+ 0.57\,-\,0.059\ p_H) $$\end{document}.The transformation of CuO and Cu(OH)2 with metallic copper into Cu2O may take place spontaneously with 4·6 and 6·4 kcal, respectively. Copper Oxides cannot be Spontaneously transformed into Cu2O3.
Notes:
6,4 kcal freiwillig ablaufen. Cu-Oxyde Können nicht in Cu2O3 freiwillig übergeführt werden.
