Description: The Longling Coal Mine (W. Yunnan) is situated in an area of substantial geotectonic activity. Its Late Pliocene palynoflora is of considerable interest, since the area represents a centre of biodiversity. Eighty-two palynomorphs belonging to 61 families were recovered from the lignite. The palynoflora is dominated by angiosperms (68.3%), with ferns (24.4%), gymnosperms (4.9%) and algae (2.4%). Comparisons indicate that most of the palynoflora was derived from the Montane Humid Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest, with lesser contributions from the Tsuga dumosa Forest and Evergreen Coniferous Broad-leaved Mixed Forest, as well as the Montane Mossy Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest. This indicates that the Late Pliocene climate was cooler than that of the present. In the course of the accumulation of the lignite, the climate underwent five major phases of warming and cooling.

Notes: Free abrasive wiresaw technology is the main method in slicing monocrystalline siliconwafers. The mathematical model of hydrodynamic action in the process of the free abrasivewiresaw slicing was founded, displacement caused under distributed radial load of every node onthe wire is embodimented through self-compliance influence coefficient, which is beneficial tofound the film thickness equation. The distributions of hydrodynamic pressure and film thickness inthe free abrasive wiresaw slicing process are yielded by using the finite difference numericalmethods to solve the two-dimension Reynolds equation. The results show that the minimum filmthickness increases with the increase of wire speed, and slurry viscosity, while decreases with theincrease of wire bow angle. The film thickness is greater than the average abrasive size so that theabrasives float in the slurry when the size of abrasive is small enough

Notes: The physical model of fixed-abrasive diamond wire-sawing monocrystalline silicon wasfounded to analyze the elastic deformation of the wire, supposing that every grit was connected tothe surface of the wire by a spring. Ignoring lateral vibration of the wire, the geometrical model ofwire-sawing was founded; the average cut depth of single grit was calculated theoretically. Basedthe indentation fracture mechanics and investigations on brittle-ductile transition of machiningmonocrystalline silicon, the removal mechanism and surface formation was studied theoretically. Itshows that in the case of wire-sawing velocity of 10m/s or higher, infeed velocity of 0.20mm/s anddiamond grain size of 64μm or smaller, the chip formation and material removal is in a brittleregime mainly, but the silicon wafer surface formation is sawed in a ductile regime. The size of theabrasives, the wire-saw velocity and infeed velocity can influence the sawing process obviously

Notes: Abstract We present a vacation model which can be used as a component of the type of polling system encountered in a fair share scheduler. Consider two queues in tandem attended by one server. The primary queue Q p, which has an infinite buffer, has a preemptive priority over the secondary queue Q s which has a finite buffer. Jobs which complete service at the primary queue will go into the secondary queue for another service with a probability p. The server visits Q s for a maximum of T units of time. After visiting for T units of time or after Q s becomes empty, whichever occurs first, the server goes on a vacation. The duration of this vacation has a phase type distribution. The vacation can also be interrupted in order to attend to the jobs in Q p. The resulting Markov chain describing this system is of the QBD type. We show that the resulting R matrix associated with this Markov chain has a very special structure which reduces to the solution of a smaller dimension matrix. We then show how to obtain the key performance measures for this system. Of interest is the approach used for obtaining the waiting time distribution. Some numerical examples are also presented.
