Summary The mechanical behavior of new siloxane-urea segmented copolymers, based on amino terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) oligomers of about 1000 to 4000 〈Mn〉 and 4,4′ -diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), has been investigated. These segmented block copolymers appear to form microphase texture and display mechanical behavior which is in some ways comparable to filled silicone elastomer systems as well as segmented polyurethanes. Preliminary studies of the effect of hard segment content on mechanical properties are also reported. As expected, the stress-strain behavior reflects composition changes.
