Description: The Pterophoridae, subfamily Pterophorinae (Tribus: Oidaematophorini and Pterophorini), species of the \nneotropical fauna are reviewed, and species are redescribed. Many adults are illustrated in colour for the \nfirst time, along with line drawings of their genitalia. The examination of type specimens revealed several \nnew synonyms: Pterophorus salticola Meyrick, 1913 is a junior synonym of Hellinsia pelospilus (Zeller, 1877); \nOedaematophorus pelodactylus Berg, 1885 and Pterophorus sacrificus Meyrick, 1926 are junior synonyms of \nHellinsia surinamensis (Sepp, 1855); Pterophorus chionophanes (Meyrick, 1930) and Oidaematophorus chionoptilia (T.B. Fletcher, 1940) are junior synonyms of Hellinsia argutus (Meyrick, 1926). Lectotypes are designated \nfor: Pterophorus salticola Meyrick, 1913, Pterophorus spermatias Meyrick, 1908, Pterophorus oxyntes Meyrick, \n1908, Pterophorus discors Meyrick, 1913, Pterophorus crescens Meyrick, 1926, Mimesoptilus conjunctus Zeller, \n1877, Pterophorus glochinias Meyrick, 1908, Pterophorus palmatus Meyrick, 1908, Pterophorus nivalis Meyrick, \n1908, Pterophorus delospilus Meyrick, 1921, Pterophorus stadias Meyrick, 1908, Pterophorus malesanus Meyrick, \n1921, Pterophorus trachyphloeus Meyrick, 1926, and Pterophorus suspiciosus Meyrick, 1921. This study resulted \nin the recognition of 31 new species: Hellinsia paccha, H. puruha, H. orellanai, H. sucrei, H. canari, H. pallens, H. \ncajanuma, H. cuculla, H. caras, H. pizarroi, H. ruminahuii, H. magnus, H. quitus, H. postnigrata, H. huayna, H. \nbenalcazari, H. papallacta, H. shyri, H. tupaci, H. aguilerai, H. alfaroi, H. angela, H. lumbaquia, H. maldonadoica, H. \nmilleri, H. montufari, H. morenoi, H. pichincha, Oidaematophorus pseudotrachyphloeus, Adaina atahualpa, and \nChocophorus mayaensis. In the genus Hellinsia the species are arranged in groups, predominantly based on \nthe male genital structure. A comprehensive checklist of the species included.

Description: The genera of the superfamily Pterophoroidea are redescribed. Three new genera are described: Dejongia, Stockophorus and Shafferia. The characters of the genera and their states are translated into a data matrix. A majority rule consensus tree composed with PAUP serves as a basis for a phylogenetic analysis. A cladogram, representing the views of the author, based on the data acquired, is presented with argumentation. The evaluation of the characters is discussed. A new subfamily is erected, the Deuterocopinae. The Pterophorinae are redefined. The Platyptiliinae are synonymized with the Pterophorinae. The Macropiratidae, considered by Minet (1991) a subfamily or a genus of the Pterophoridae, has been raised to family rank, and is placed as the sister group of the Pterophoridae in the superfamily Pterophoroidea. A discussion is given on the biogeographical data. The only known Pterophorid fossil is discussed and placed in a time scale. A checklist is produced of all known species of Pterophoroidea arranged according to the definition of the genera as (re)described in this publication.

Description: New and interesting Microlepidoptera from The Netherlands (Lepidoptera).\nThis is the fourth \'annual\' compilation of Microlepidoptera collected in The Netherlands, the first three having been published in Entomologische Berichten (vols 45: 89-104 [1985]; 46: 137-156 [1986]; 48: 69-81 [1988]). The following fifteen species are here recorded for the first time from The Netherlands: 1. Ectoedemia heringi (Toll) (Nepticulidae), leafmining on Quercus in eastern and southeastern parts. 2. Alloclemensia mesospilella (Herrich-Sch\xc3\xa4ffer) (Incurvariidae), from Noord-Brabant, details to be published by Van Nieukerken. 3. Nematopogon schwarziellus Zeller (Adelidae), previously misidentified as N. pilella (Denis & Schifferm\xc3\xbcller). 4. Nemapogon wolffiella Karsholt & Nielsen (Tineidae), two specimens from southern Limburg. 5. Tinea steueri Petersen (Tineidae), found in the 1960\'s in the province of Friesland. 6. Phyllonorycter anderidae (Fletcher) (Gracillariidae), found on Birch seedlings in several heath areas. 7. Digitivalva perlepidella (Stainton) (Plutellidae), rnining on Inula conyza in Limburg. 8.\nPseudatemelia latipennella J\xc3\xa4ckh (Oecophoridae), at several localities in Twente, province of Overijssel. 9. Depressaria weirella Stainton (Oecophoridae), found amongst collection material of D. pulcherrimella Stainton. 10. Coleophora calycotomella (Stainton) (Coleophoridae), reared from cases on Broom. 11. Gelechia senticetella Staudinger (Gelechiidae) of garden conifers, notably Juniper, a recent addition. 12. Scrobipalpa proclivella (Fuchs) (Gelechiidae), a stem-miner of Achillea and Artemisia, found in the province of Noord-Brabant. 13. Pammene germmana (H\xc3\xbcbner) (Tortricidae), a pair near a hedge in Noord-Brabant. 14. P. ignorata Kusnetzov (Tortricidae), a single female from Limburg of 1964, previously known from about 20 specimens from Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and Siberia only. 15. Cydia gemmiferana (Treitschke) (Tortricidae), two males from Southern Limburg.\nThe occurrence of the Dichrorampha plumbana group is discussed under D. aeratana Pierce & Metcalfe. Dichrorampha alpigenana Heinemann has to be removed from the Dutch list. The fifth known and second Dutch specimen of Bohemannia auriciliella (Joannis) is reported from Limburg.

Description: The Pterophoridae (Ochyroticinae, Deuterocopinae, Pterophorinae (Tribus: Platyptiliini, Exelastini, Oxyptilini)) species of the Neotropical fauna are reviewed. The species are redescribed. Moths are illustrated in colour for the first time, their genitalia are illustrated in line drawings. The examination of type specimens revealed the presence of four new synonyms: Platyptilia juanvinas Gielis, 1999, is a junior synonym of Platyptilia gravior Meyrick, 1932; Platyptilia jonesi Gielis, 1996, is a junior synonym of Platyptilia semnopis Meyrick, 1931; Oxyptilus maleficus Meyrick, 1926, is a junior synonym of Leptodeuterocopus neales (Walsingham, 1915); Lioptilus parvus Walsingham, 1880, is a junior synonym of Lioptilodes albistriolatus (Zeller, 1871). During the study of much new material 40 new species were discovered: Leptodeuterocopus tungurahue, L. angulatus, L. panamaensis, L. duchicela, Sochchora mulinus, Melanoptilia nigra, Platyptilia spicula, Stenoptilodes maculatus, S. agricultura, S. heppneri, S. medius, S. altiaustralis, Postplatyptilia nebuloarbustum, P. antillae, P. caribica, P. uruguayensis, P. pluvia, P. seitetazas, P. transversus, P. carchi, P. boletus, P, ugartei, P. drechseli, P. corticis, P. zongoensis, P. vorbecki, Amblyptilia landryi, A. kosteri, Lioptilodes altivolans, L. arequipa, L. yungas, L. salarius, L. cocodrilo, Michaelophorus margaritae, M. bahiaensis, Geina integumentum, Capperia browni, Buckleria brasilia, Megalorhipida paraiso, M. dubiosa. In the larger genera the species are arranged in groups. For a distinct group of species a new genus: Melanoptilia is proposed. A comprehensive checklist of the species has been made. To facilitate identification a key is presented to the genus level.
