Abstract The past decade has seen increased applications for millimeter waves both in commercial and defense activities. Conventional millimeter-wave solid-satate sources were built in waveguide, suspended stripline, and finline. Fabricating these components in microstrip provides advantages of light weight, small size, and low cost. This paper summarizes the recent developments in millimeter-wave microstrip solid-state sources and amplifiers. The design and performance of these components will be presented.
