Summary Many enantiomeric pairs of alcohols (primary, secondary or tertiary) are resolved directly on persilylated glass capillary columns, coated with the chiral stationary phase L- or D-Chirasil-Val. Dependent on the chemical structure of the substrate, considerable resolution factors can be obtained, even with simple aliphatic alcohols. Thus, one strong attraction may be sufficient to produce significant chiral recognition. Enantiomeric purities of these alcohols can be determined with high accuracy and great ease.
