Notes: This work is devoted to Free Boundary Problems with Laplace equation Δu = f in the domain and the two conditions on the Free Boundary u = 1 and |grad u| = λ = const. In the model problems which we study, three cases arise: 1) f = 0, λ is given, 2) f = 0, λ is unknown and the length of the Free Boundary is given, 3) f ≠ 0, λ = 0 (Obstacle Problem).

Notes: The spectral properties of the linearized MHD operator are investigated applying the theory of trace class perturbation. Especially, it is shown that the essential spectrum in the positive (stable) part of the spectrum contains the absolutely continuous one and the corresponding part of the spectrum is unitarily equivalent to some multiplication operator.

Notes: A free boundary problem for a flow around a circle is analyzed. We find and mathematically prove that bifurcations from the trivial flow actually take place. Golubitsky-Schaeffer theory, together with a formula concerning variations of domains, enables us to clarify the behaviors of the branches of nontrivial solutions.

Notes: The aim of this work is to give theoretical justification of several types of finite element approximations to the initial-boundary value problems of first order linear hyperbolic equations. Our approximate scheme is obtained by the piecewise linear continuous finite element method for space variable, x, and the Euler type step by step integration method for time variable, t. An artificial viscosity technique, up-stream type methods are considered within the frame work of L2-theory. The convergence and the error estimate of the approximate solutions to the true one are discussed.

Notes: The approximation sequence for the scattering state is constructed by the solutions for the reduced wave equations in some bounded domains with radiation conditions at their boundary. The corresponding discrete approximation is also considered by the Bubnov-Galerkin method.
