Description:
Also in this issue, Kontoes et al. report on their analysis of the coseismic
deformation field associated with a moderate earthquake that occurred northwest of
Athens on 7 September 1999. They use interferometric combinations of satellite images
and observe two fringes south of Fili mountain. Modelling the earthquake as a
dislocation in an elastic half space, they find that the intersection of the fault plane
with the Earth's surface is located in Fili mountain.
