    Experimental comparison of blow-off methods for plasma-density measurements (1989)

    Notes: Abstract Two different methods for plasma-density measurement using blow-off neutral source were performed on the MT-1 tokamak. The two methods produce nearly the same results, but the pure blow-off method is the less precise. The blow-off combined with laser-induced fluorescence requires a complicated experimental arrangement and a simple evaluation, while the pure blow-off method demands a simpler experimental set-up and a complicated evaluation.

    The influence of photoinduced structural distortions on interband absorption in polyacetylene (1988)

    Notes: Abstract Picosecond pump and probe experiments were carried out on fully oriented transpolyacetylene. Exciting the sample at 527 nm, photoinduced bleaching and absorption were observed at 527 nm and 1054 nm, respectively. The measurements give an upper limit of 2 ps for the relaxation time of the photogenerated 0.5 eV hot carriers to the band edges. The evaluation of the measured optical processes strongly suggests the conclusion that photoinduced structural distortions of the polyacetylene chain result in observable transient decrease of the interband absorption. This may be ascribed to the reduction of the density of electronic states and to that of the interband transition matrix element of the momentum operator.

    Notes: 13C, 1H and 31P NMR investigations were carried out to confirm the stereochemistry of novel bis[(4R,6R)-4,6-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan-2-yloxy]alkanes. The 13C NMR spectra exhibited second-order features at room temperature. Substantial coupling was found between P atoms six bonds apart. The possibility of a through-space contribution was tested. Spatially close P atoms and the strongly electronegative P substituents (oxygen atoms) are thought to be responsible for the enhanced P… P coupling.

    Notes: 13C, 1H and 31P NMR investigations have been carried out to determine the ring stereochemistry and phosphorus configuration for four chiral (4R, 6R)-2-substituted-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane derivatives 1-4 (2-substituent = Cl, Ph, OMe and O-t-Bu, respectively). 1H NMR spectra, double resonance, 2D-J experiments and spin simulation proved the chair character of the ring. Depending on the position of R, two diastereomers may exist, but in most cases only one predominating form was detected. Dynamic processes were observed for 1 and 2. Saturation transfer experiments proved the existence of ring and/or phosphorus inversions.
