The First ODINCARSA Planning Workshop for the Caribbean Islands was held in Christ
Church, Barbados between 15 and 18 December 2003, co-sponsored by the Coastal Zone Management Unit of Barbados. The workshop was attended by participants from eight countries in the Caribbean. The meeting reviewed the ocean data and information management capacity available in this region, identified needs and capacity building requirements, and prepared a comprehensive work plan and timetable to develop a regional cooperative network for the management of oceanographic data and marine information on the basis of the experience of the ODINCARSA project in South America.
