Description: Objective. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate a comprehensive and reliable conclusion on the correlations of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene with the risk of diabetic nephropathy (DN) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods. We screened PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CISCOM, CINAHL, Google Scholar, CBM, and CNKI databases for those relevant studies that investigated the association of 14,945 subjects with clinicopathological parameters in gastric cancer. Results. Eleven case-control studies that met all inclusion criteria were included in this meta-analysis. A total of 14,945 subjects were involved, including 3,049 DN patients and 11,896 DM patients. Our meta-analysis results revealed that VEGF rs2010963 and rs3025039 polymorphisms might contribute to the risk of DN in DM patients. Ethnicity-stratified analysis suggested that VEGF genetic polymorphisms were associated with an increased risk of DN among Asians. However, we found no correlations of VEGF genetic polymorphisms with susceptibility to DN among Caucasians. Conclusion. Our findings suggest that VEGF rs2010963 and rs3025039 polymorphisms may contribute to the risk of DN in DM patients, especially among Asians. Thus, VEGF genetic polymorphisms could be useful biomarkers for early diagnosis of DN in DM patients.

Description: We present a novel visual object tracking algorithm based on two-dimensional principal component analysis (2DPCA) and maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). Firstly, we introduce regularization into the 2DPCA reconstruction and develop an iterative algorithm to represent an object by 2DPCA bases. Secondly, the model of sparsity constrained MLE is established. Abnormal pixels in the samples will be assigned with low weights to reduce their effects on the tracking algorithm. The object tracking results are obtained by using Bayesian maximum a posteriori (MAP) probability estimation. Finally, to further reduce tracking drift, we employ a template update strategy which combines incremental subspace learning and the error matrix. This strategy adapts the template to the appearance change of the target and reduces the influence of the occluded target template as well. Compared with other popular methods, our method reduces the computational complexity and is very robust to abnormal changes. Both qualitative and quantitative evaluations on challenging image sequences demonstrate that the proposed tracking algorithm achieves more favorable performance than several state-of-the-art methods.

Description: The volatility of wind makes the forecasting of wind speed unreliable. The inaccurate forecast in wind speed always leads to generation imbalance and causes Wind Generating Companies’ (WGenCOs) losses in the intrahour market. In contrast to wind power, Hydrogenerating Companies (HGenCOs) can utilize the reservoir volume to settle the fluctuation of water inflow easily. When treated as a specialized Spinning Reserve (SR) unit for wind power, hydropower can help to settle the generation imbalance and obtain more profit in the power market for both power plants. In this paper, the author establishes a coordination scheduling model of wind-hydro alliance which covers the day-ahead market and the intrahour market. First, to evaluate the deviation of the wind-hydro generation in the intrahour market, an imbalance charge rule considering each period of schedule horizon is constructed. Second, the author introduces two parameters to control the resources that hydropower can use to coordinate with wind power. Finally, the author introduces the Shapley value method to allocate the profit of the alliance which comprises several independent entities fairly. For the simulation of uncertainties, the scenario-based approach is used to simulate the water inflow of a reservoir considering the Monte Carlo (MC) method. The wind speed for the intrahour market is forecasted with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model. Simulations are implemented, and the results show that when treated as an SR unit for wind power, hydropower can diminish the imbalance charges significantly and will improve the revenue of the wind-hydro alliance. Furthermore, the coordination operation also helps reduce the spillage of the reservoir and the curtailment of the wind power to achieve better utilization of renewable energy.

Description: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in males worldwide. lncRNAs (long noncoding RNAs) play a significant role in the occurrence and development of PCa. eRNAs (enhancer RNAs) and SE-lncRNAs (superenhancer lncRNAs) are important elements of lncRNAs, but the role of eRNAs and SE-lncRNAs in PCa remains largely unclear. In this work, we identified 681 eRNAs and 292 SE-lncRNAs that were expressed differentially in PCa using a microarray. We also found that eRNAs transcribed from active open chromatin had significantly higher expression than those from active closed chromatin, and SE-lncRNAs had a little higher expression than eRNAs. Next, we constructed a transcriptional regulation network that eRNA-related enhancer and the target genes shared the same TF-binding motifs. Further, we investigated whether CTCF played a role in mediating the transcriptional regulation network. eRNAs, especially those that regulate androgen response genes, may be candidates for prognostic biomarkers and therapy targets. Our work provides a new perspective for developing medical treatments and therapies for prostate cancer.

Description: This paper extends an existing cooperative multi-objective interaction programming problem with interaction constraint for two players (or two agents). First, we define ans-optimal joint solution with weight vector to multi-objective interaction programming problem with interaction constraint for two players and get some properties of it. It is proved that thes-optimal joint solution with weight vector to the multi-objective interaction programming problem can be obtained by solving a corresponding mathematical programming problem. Then, we define anothers-optimal joint solution with weight value to multi-objective interaction programming problem with interaction constraint for two players and get some of its properties. It is proved that thes-optimal joint solution with weight vector to multi-objective interaction programming problem can be obtained by solving a corresponding mathematical programming problem. Finally, we build a pricing multi-objective interaction programming model for a bi-level supply chain. Numerical results show that the interaction programming pricing model is better than Stackelberg pricing model and the joint pricing model.

Description: This paper introduces an approach for group decision-making problems (GDMP) without weighted aggregation operators. This approach is more suitable for scenarios with infinite number of individuals. A mathematical model approach is established based on the new concept of s⁎-optimal concession equilibrium solution without weighted aggregation operators for group decision-making problems. It is of practical significance for all decision-makers (experts) to find an optimal solution or to sort out all the candidate solutions. We prove that the s⁎-optimal concession equilibrium solution is equivalent to solving a single objective optimization problem, and, under certain conditions, the s⁎-optimal equilibrium solution always exists. Moreover, it is proven that the s⁎-optimal concession equilibrium solution is equivalent to the robust optimal solution of the group weight aggregation and the optimal solution under the worst weighted aggregation operators.

Description: Risk-averse suppliers’ optimal pricing strategies in two-stage supply chains under competitive environment are discussed. The suppliers in this paper focus more on losses as compared to profits, and they care their long-term relationship with their customers. We introduce for the suppliers a loss function, which covers both current loss and future loss. The optimal wholesale price is solved under situations of risk neutral, risk averse, and a combination of minimizing loss and controlling risk, respectively. Besides, some properties of and relations among these optimal wholesale prices are given as well. A numerical example is given to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

Description: This paper introduces a concession equilibrium solution without weighted aggregation operators to multiattribute group decision-making problems (in short MGDMPs). It is of practical significance for all decision-makers to find an optimal solution to MGDMPs or to sort out all candidate solutions to MGDMPs. It is proved that under certain conditions the optimal concession equilibrium solution does exist, and on this important result the optimal concession equilibrium solution is obtained by solving a single objective optimization problem. Moreover, the optimal concession equilibrium solution is equivalent to the robust optimal solution with the group weight aggregation under the worst weight condition. Finally, it is proved that the concession equilibrium solution is equivalent to a complete order, i.e. all candidate alternatives can be sorted by concession equilibrium solution. By defining the triangular fuzzy numbers of target concession value, the optimal concession equilibrium solution or the order of the alternative solutions can be obtained in the range of objective concession ambiguity. Numerical experiment shows that the solution can balance the evaluations of multiattribute group decision makers. This paper provides a new approach to solving multiattribute group decision-making problems.
