Notes:
A device is described that has been developed for continuous magnetic sorting of particles which are typically several micrometers in diameter. In a continuously streaming fluid, strongly magnetizable particles are deviated in a different way from weakly magnetizable particles. The strongly magnetizable particles are focused into a separate stream. The two types of particles can be collected continuously into several vials. Sorting results and applications of this technique are reported. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.
