Notes: Purpose - To develop money profiles based on money attitudes and investigate differences in work-related attitudes across money profiles. Design/methodology/approach - Data from 564 university students in the USA were collected and four money profiles based on the Love of Money Scale (LOMS) were identified using cluster analysis. Findings - Achieving money worshipers (23.22 percent) have the highest scores on factors good, respect, achievement, and power. Careless money admirers (30.16 percent) have the lowest scores on factors budget and evil. Apathetic money managers (31.08 percent) have the lowest scores on factors respect and achievement and the highest on budget. Money repellent Individuals (15.54 percent) have the lowest scores on factors good and power and the highest on factor evil. Achieving money worshipers have the highest level of organization-based self-esteem (OBSE), the protestant work ethic (PWE), intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction, and satisfaction with social and self-actualization needs, whereas money repellent individuals have the lowest. Apathetic money managers have the highest level of satisfaction with physiological and safety needs. Research limitations/implications - This convenience sample does not represent the national population in general or student population in particular. Self-reported data from the same source at one time can inflate relationships between variables and do not provide the cause-and-effect relationship. Practical implications - Researchers and managers understand that people in different money profiles have different work-related attitudes and importance and satisfaction of human needs and that they may identify human resource strategies to predict and control behavior in organizations. Originality/value - The four money profiles, replicated in this study, are valid across several cultures.

Notes: The influence of ball-milling methods on microstructure and mechanical properties of silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramics produced by pressureless sintering for a sintering additive from MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 system was investigated. For planetary high-energy ball milling, the mechanical properties of Si3N4 ceramics were evidently improved and a homogeneous microstructure developed. In contrast, some exaggerated elongated grains were developed due to the local enrichment of sintering additives in the specimen prepared by general ball milling. For Si3N4 ceramics produced by planetary ball milling, flexure strength of 1.06 GPa, Vickers hardness of 14.2 GPa, and fracture toughness of 6.6 MPa·m0.5 were achieved. The differences in the mechanical properties of Si3N4 ceramics produced by different processing seem to arise mainly from the changes in microstructural homogenization and sinterability. The planetary high-energy ball-milling process provides a good route to mix starting powders for developing ceramics with uniform microstructure and promising mechanical properties.

Notes: Polycrystalline, transparent LuAG:Ce ceramics were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method using high-purity Lu2O3, Al2O3 and CeO2 powders. The mixed powder compacts were sintered at 1770°C for 10 h under vacuum and annealed at 1450°C for 20 h in air. The transmittance in the visible light region reaches 70%. The emission spectra at 470–650 nm wavelengths are consistent with that of LuAG:Ce single crystals, and satisfy the property requirements of a scintillator.

Notes: [Auszug] Our understanding of the cellular implementation of systems-level neural processes like action, thought and emotion has been limited by the availability of tools to interrogate specific classes of neural cells within intact, living brain tissue. Here we identify and develop an archaeal light-driven ...

Notes: Plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite coating on metal substrate has been prepared, two kinds of post-treatment methods have been used: (1) Heating in air at 650°C for 30 min, (2) Heating in water vapor at 125°C, 0.15Mpa for 6 hours. XRD showed that the nanocrystals of HA coating increased after water vapor treated. The interfacial tensiles strength between HA and the substrate were 45.0±1.82MPa, 39.1±1.27MPa and 30.3±1.61MPa for as-received coatings, water vaportreated coatings and heated in air coatings respectively. After 3 months implant in dogs limbs, the push-out strength between implants and bone were 11.27±2.71 MPa, 11.63±3.11MPa, 23.92± 2.01MPa and 18.8±1.82 MPa for pure Ti implants, as-received coating implants, water vapor treated implants and heated in air implants respectively. The results showed that the water vapor post treated HA coating have better mechanical behavior in vitro and in vivo

Notes: It has been studied that the dependence of tunneling coefficient T on the ratio x of Ge, onthe barrier width B L , on the well width W L and on the periodicity N in periodic superlatticesSi1-xGex/Si by the method of transfer matrix, and shown in figures. The dependence of peak regionwidth W on the above parameters are discussed in detail, and plotted, those are fitted in functions. These results may be useful to convert a weak mechanical signal into a strong tunneling currentsignal and to design electron devices based on meso- piezoresistive effect in the superlatticesSi1-xGex/Si

Notes: Meso- piezoresistive effect is proposed, which is defined as “Strain Tuning of theresonant current”, in order to convert a weak mechanical signal into a strong tunneling currentsignal. If a mechanical signal is acted on an related mechanical nano-structure, the correspondingstrain distribution will be produced in the structure; the built- in electric field will be resulted fromthe strain in system in some conditions; the strain and built-in electric filed will result in the changeof electronic energy states; the change of electronic energy state will influence on the value of thetunneling current. Two experimental units are designed, one being used to detect an acoustic signalunder sea, other to detect acceleration

Notes: The effects of hydrogen on the microstructure and hot deformation behavior of Ti-6Al-4Valloy were studied, and the differences of microstructure and high temperature compressive behaviorbetween the specimens hydrogenised various time at 700 oC and with the same hydrogen contentswere analyzed. The results showed that the addition of hydrogen decreases the deformation resistanceof Ti-6Al-4V alloy at high temperature. The flow stresses of specimens with the same hydrogencontent declined as the prolongation of hydrogenating time. The microstructure observation indicatedthat stick-type microstructure was obtained in Ti-6Al-4V alloy annealed at 700 oC for 2 hours.Hydrogenation at 700 oC for 2 hours resulted in fine α plate in β transformed microstructure. When thehydrogenation time was prolonged to 6 hours, the volume fraction of newly-formed α plates increasedand the prior α plates became coarser

Notes: Effects of mullite on the structure, microhardness and machinability of fluorphlogopitemulliteglass-ceramics were investigated by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), differential scanningcalorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and microhardness tester. Results showthat the microhardness and machinability are related closely to its microstructure. The microhardnessdecreases remarkably with the increase of crystallization and the formation of interlockingstructure. The addition of mullite can decrease the size of mica crystals, which results in the spoil ofinterlocking structure. The microhardness of the glass-ceramics is slightly increased and thendecreased with the addition of mullite. When the content of mullite is 15wt%, the glass-ceramicsshows good machinability after reheated at 1200°C for 2h
